Mondalēz is one of the largest snacking companies in Canada with household favourites including Cadbury, Oreo, Christie and Maynards. With around $250 million being invested into their Ontario-based manufacturing facilities in the last few years alone; they are leading marketing campaigns with innovations such as Cadbury Dark Milk and Oreo flavours. Their community of over 2,683 employees is based across Canada, with their head office in Toronto.
Against a suboptimal backdrop of legacy systems, structures and processes, Mondelēz wanted to reimagine and inspire work in HR in order to invigorate the workforce experience, provide the baseline to grow its social enterprise and put digital first as the basis for driving innovation and agility through workforce development.
The result was ‘People at the heart of growth’ (P@TH) - a large-scale, global, technology-enabled transformation programme with an ambitious set of goals:
- reimagine the nature of people processes
- enhance the employee experience
- eradicate inefficiency
- optimize service delivery
- deliver at least $18m hard benefit to the bottom line
P@TH was the commitment of a combined, global Mondelēz and Deloitte team of 294 individuals from 80+ countries coming together in support of a common goal - to build connections across the business that affected every employee and, in turn, delivered a better, more consistent employee experience.
Developed and tested in 13 languages, the solution enabled Mondelēz to maintain lines of communication and effective ways of working across a diverse, global network.
COVID-19 presented an unplanned challenge, but the transformation drive continued, powered by a more flexible virtual programme delivery model, which in turn supported the business in continuing to trade as normal while simultaneously transitioning to a near virtual organization overnight.

We always hear about how efficient we will be with transitioning to a new system. In the touch points above, it says deliver 18M in hard benefit to the bottom line. I would have liked to have read more if the 18M was achieved and how this was measured.
2 years agoI agree with Donna. I too would have liked to have read more if the 18M was achieved and is it really possible to eradicate inefficiencies? I’m not at the point yet to use, or I guess understand or maybe even appreciate how technology and software can deepen coworkers’ connections.
